About Our Guest Speaker

Jan Auger was born and raised in Winslow, Maine. She started playing golf at age 15 after being inspired by the biography of Babe Didrikson Zaharias. She was immediately hooked.  After 2 years of college, she moved to Florida in 1984 to play more golf.  Jan joined the LPGA as a teaching professional in 1986. A lot of people ask if she ever wanted to play on the tour? The simple answer is “no” because she never liked being far from home.

Jan was hired as the Assistant Golf Professional in 1989 and then the General Manager of Golf  in 2010. Jan says “I’ve been fortunate to work at a job I love and with the City of Tallahassee. We’ve done a lot of work with the Department of Corrections work release program which has been the most important part of my career”.
